Does Soreness Mean a Good Workout? Track This Instead

Today's Lesson: Soreness was never proof that a workout worked.

You finish a lift feeling fine the next morning, no soreness, so you assume it didn't count and pile on extra sets to "make it count" next time.

Here is what actually happened: Your body adapted, that's not regression, that's the whole point of training. Chasing soreness just adds fatigue without adding results.

The Fix: Track performance, not soreness

Log the weight, the reps, how the lift actually felt. Those numbers tell you if you're progressing, soreness doesn't.

So when a workout doesn't wreck you, check the numbers before you assume it failed. That's it!

That's Todays Lesson: Soreness fades. Progress is the real progressing factor!

Client Transformation: Rebecca Before Rebecca came to us, she had tried just about everything. Fad diets. Extreme exercise. Weight-loss surgery. GLP-1 medication. Some of it worked for a while. None of it lasted. What was actually in the way: None of those things touched the habits underneath. The eating patterns and the all-or-nothing swings were still there every time. What changed: We worked on the behavior, not just the number. She learned how her body works and built a relationship with...

Today's Lesson: A crowded workout is usually a weak one. You've got twelve exercises on your list. Three sets each. By exercise eight you're rushing, resting less, using momentum, and mostly just trying to finish. Here is what actually happened: you didn't train hard. You got tired. Those are different things, and only one of them builds muscle. The Fix: fewer exercises, done with full effort and full range of motion. Five movements covers you: press with your legs, push, pull, hinge, carry....

Today's Lesson: Eating high protein does not have to mean eating boring. Most people start eating better with plain chicken, plain rice, and a sad pile of broccoli. By Thursday they're sick of it, and by Saturday they're ordering pizza. Here is what actually happened: you didn't run out of willpower. You ran out of food you actually wanted to eat. The Fix: keep the foods you like, and make a higher-protein version of them. Pancakes, burgers and fries, orange chicken, flatbread pizza. Swap in...
